• Do I have to declare the income?
YES - the homeowner becomes a proprietor of a business, but you also deduct all expenses related to the HSIL PV system from your taxable income, including the cost of the system.
• Will my property tax increase?
No - MPAC there is currently no direct impact on property taxes. This may change in the future.
• Will my property insurance go up?
Possibly - Your solar system is a removable fixture so it is
important to check with your insurance company to see if any extra coverages are needed for your new solar system.
• Will a Solar Roof decrease my resale value?
No - energy conservation and renewable energy generation adds value to a home. Solar energy is seen as one of the best home
improvement investments you make. The microFIT contract is transferable to the new homeowners.

The microFIT Program is designed for homeowners, farmers and small business owners. If you are a homeowner, farmer or small business owner, you have the opportunity to develop a very small or "micro" renewable electricity generation project (10 kilowatts (kW) or less in size) on your property. Under the microFIT Program, you will be paid a guaranteed price of 80.2 cents/per kW for all the electricity your project produces for twenty years.
